Find Your Rhythm. Do it Beautifully.
Jazz Tap is a dynamic style of dance that combines the percussive footwork of tap dance with the energetic movements and improvisational freedom of jazz dance. It emphasizes expressive individual style, showcasing unique footwork, big leaps, and quick turns while using the taps on the shoes to create rhythms and sounds.
Get started with a Jazz-Tap intro, a preview that gives new students the chance to get into classes to learn foundational moves, find their own rhythm and articulations, and how we use dance in conditioning exercises that build the strength and coordination needed for more advanced skills.
Plus take advantage of special enrollment offers for those ready to start ongoing classes.
Space in these popular classes is extremely limited and preregistration is required. Reserve your space today by filling out the form below.
We offer an adult program for adults, teen fundamentals ages 13 and up, and a youth program for kids and teens ages 5 to 17. New students begin in a Level 1 class where they will learn vocabulary & basic rhythms, beginner sequences, and work to develop the strength needed for upper levels. Students have the opportunity to be assessed for higher level classes once they have developed a strong technical foundation.

I'd Like to Try An Intro Class!
Your Jazz-Tap Fundamentals Class

Before class...
Wear comfortable, form fitting clothing that covers the midriff and the knees (t-shirt or tank top and leggings are a great choice.) You can wear socks, go barefoot, or bring your own pair of taps. Remove any large earrings, rings, or bracelets that could tear or get tangled in your hair or clothes as you move around.
Be on time! Do yourself a favor and arrive a few minutes early. We begin class with an important technique warm up that gets your body ready. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late will be asked to reschedule their class.

What to expect & how to get ready
We're thrilled that you're ready to try Jazz-Tap! In the intro class you'll get into the dance floor to learn more about this amazing art. You'll learn simple terms & moves, identify certain rhythms, and even how we use the genre in conditioning exercises designed to build the strength and flexibility required for more advanced movements.

Can I do this?
The short answer is YES! We'll tell you the truth: Some of this stuff is hard! For some of our students, it's the most challenging cardio building workout they've ever done. It's also the most fun they've ever had building strength and endurance.
Bring any previous experience you have and a great attitude. There are many movements or rhythms that you won't be able to do at first - don't worry! We have never seen a student who was willing to keep at it fail to learn to do this.
Am I too old? No! We have adult students from 18 to 68.

What's next? Are there more classes?
Yes! Belamour is proud to have Lebanon Tennessee's largest progressive Adult Fundamentals program for ongoing students.
New students begin in a Level 1 program and work through a 6 to 12 -month curriculum that builds basic skill and the strength required for advancement to Level 2. Classes meet twice a week. Most new students can expect to advance to Level 2 within 6 months, depending on their attendance and work in class.
With consistent practice and hard work, students advance to Level 3 for even more challenging movements and performance opportunities.
Do you offer drop-in classes?
Many adult dance studios offer drop-in classes, but at Belamour Leadership Academy, we don't believe drop-ins best serve our students. Building the strength and developing the appropriate technique to learn healthily, safely, and successfully requires regular practice. We typically require all ongoing students to train at least twice a week. We even offer additional open gym times for free for current students to do additional practice on their own schedule.
Drop-in students tend to slow down the progress of the existing class and require the instructor and other students to back track while the drop-in student is "catching up." Because we ask for a little more commitment from our students, our students progress more quickly and build good technique faster.

Performance Opportunities

As a new student you may not be even thinking about performing just yet - but once you develop basic skills, preparing for a showcase can really focus your training and be an exciting, confidence-building experience.
Level 2 and 3 students have opportunities to perform routines for each other with family and friends as guests at our annual student showcase.
We are so proud of our students when they get to the level to begin performing!
"Belamour Ballet Dance Leadership Academy is absolutely the BEST!! They offer classes for all ages and skill levels. I am in the adult fundamentals class and had not taken [dance] since I was a little girl. I was a little apprehensive at first because I am older but wanted a fun way to have extra activity and core building in my life. I have to say this was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! The staff is friendly, patient, and attentive, making sure that I learn the basics and do it right to avoid injury. They focus on proper technique but do so in a way that is fun and easy to understand. There is absolutely NO JUDGEMENT and nothing but kindness...You won’t regret it!"
